VALE OF WHITE HORSE TOUR DETAILS

This quiet vale to the west of the city of Oxford occupies a ridge south of the River Thames, it is so-named from the iron age horse which is carved into the chalk of a large hill-fort that dominates the vale.

An ancient track way (The Ridgeway), over 4000 years old, demonstrates the ancient historical importance of this area, and provides spectacular views of the country of the vale and it's towns and villages.

The visitor can observe the life of the vale communities just as the occupiers of the hill-fort did in the distant past.
